Making the Switch to Log Cabins

Yesterday I cancelled my cable because my friendly Verizon Fios technician came out to install my fios. Well if you haven't done this there is a recording that will tell you that the installation could take from 6hrs to 8 hrs. Seriously long installation. Well I took this opportunity to sew away since I had to be available. I finished all 41 log cabin squares for my next quilt and after 5 hours of installing I now have fios and extra money to spend on fabric every month yipeee!

I'm a little teapot...

It's no secret that I always have my hand in some sort of craft. Recently ( while I'm finishing the quilting on the monster quilt that resides in my living room) I decided that I needed a craft I could travel with. While looking for the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt book, I came across an embroidery book called Doodle Stitching. The motifs were so darn cute and I found another craft!
When I was a little girl my mother had two boxes filled with embroidery floss. Those colors looked beautiful in that box and now I have one of my own! It's nowhere near as full as my mother's were, but it's getting there.

Here is my first attempt at a darling teapot from the book.
Here's my little teapot. I think some of these will turn up in a quilt somewhere!

Almost to the finish line!

Because I bought this chair, for months I have been working on a pinwheel quilt to go in my bedroom. This project has officially taken over just about every corner of my very small apartment. It currently resides in the large space known as my dining room/hallway/living room. As this project continued I decided to add applique hearts in the border and name the quilt I Heart Pinwheels.

After much anxiety I finally had the courage to back this quilt top tonight. I'm short about 500 safety pins even thought I basted with quilting/basting adhesive I still like the security of the pins. I have even turned on the air conditioning so that it may be cool and dry so the adhesive is not too tacky. I have no idea how I am going to quilt this monster of a quilt as it measures about 90 x 90. I think I may just jump in and stipple the section with the pinwheels little by little and do straight lines in the border......YIPES!!!!!
