Part III I Fall in Love....With Fabric

So the last part of my adventures in Vermont is ta da....the fabric! I fall in love easily and I fall hard. During my trip I fell hard a few times. Here are my new loves....

Not to take away from the orange and blue fabrics, but the one in the middle is my new love; Wrenly from Free Spirit. There are a couple more pieces from this collection below as well.

I LOVE these adorable bicycles. These fat quarters may become a little box bag for me!These caught my eye and were $5 for 1.5 yards each...I had to have them.1930's Repro Fabric....the possibilities for this little bundle are endless.

Mill House Inn from Moda....I may use this pack to jump on The Farmer's Wife bandwagon.

Part II The Shops and People!

Being completely focused on my log cabin quilt, I almost forgot to finish posting about my trip to Vermont! I LOVED each shop we visited and really enjoyed the group of women who came to the event...they call themselves the Vermoms!

Our first stop was Waterwheel House Quilt Shop. Here are a couple of The Vermoms; Michelle and Laura. The little sewer is Michelle's daughter (Kyla...I think). I'm not sure what Vermont children are called. The dad's are called Vermen hahahahaha!

The second stop was lunch and more shopping at Country Treasures. This place was HUGE! Really it was all I could do to stop myself from spending my summer funds! On the front porch of the shop are all the Vermoms who came; Michelle, Abi, Kristina and Laura.

Just when I thought I couldn't spend anymore money we ended our trip at Norton House.

And of course no fabric buying trip is complete without a dancing lobster!

SEW Excited Revisited

A few months ago (May) I blogged about the fabulous Pillow and Maxfield Gypsy Bandana fabric I had purchased to make an Amy Butler bag. Two weeks ago voila...the bag is finally completed! I'm pretty proud. It's the first non-tote bag I have made.

Well the second part of my SEW Excited post spoke of a trip to Vermont to go fabric shopping with an old friend. I know 3.5 hours to shop for fabric? But really, I LOVE fabric and LOVE to hang with people who share my obsession. So without further explanation here's my trip to Vermont in pictures....

The beautiful Inn at Manchester, Manchester VT was the most welcoming and perfect place to stay!

Each room in this house was more beautiful than the next.

Not to mention how delicious the breakfast was each morning and how friendly the owners were!

The bed was super cozy too! I stayed in the Thyme room.

It seems that anywhere you go in Manchester, Vermont you find a beautiful view of the mountains and friendly people. Stay tuned for the shops, the company, and the FABRIC!!

Making the Switch to Log Cabins

Yesterday I cancelled my cable because my friendly Verizon Fios technician came out to install my fios. Well if you haven't done this there is a recording that will tell you that the installation could take from 6hrs to 8 hrs. Seriously long installation. Well I took this opportunity to sew away since I had to be available. I finished all 41 log cabin squares for my next quilt and after 5 hours of installing I now have fios and extra money to spend on fabric every month yipeee!

I'm a little teapot...

It's no secret that I always have my hand in some sort of craft. Recently ( while I'm finishing the quilting on the monster quilt that resides in my living room) I decided that I needed a craft I could travel with. While looking for the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt book, I came across an embroidery book called Doodle Stitching. The motifs were so darn cute and I found another craft!
When I was a little girl my mother had two boxes filled with embroidery floss. Those colors looked beautiful in that box and now I have one of my own! It's nowhere near as full as my mother's were, but it's getting there.

Here is my first attempt at a darling teapot from the book.
Here's my little teapot. I think some of these will turn up in a quilt somewhere!
